Journal in 5 Minutes with Ms. Cellaneous

Please don't hesitate to jump in and join us any time! If you participate once, that is better than nothing! :)

This month's 5 minute series comes after discarding several ideas I had previously had. I started on several different topics, but none seemed to be THE one until I watched this little movie this morning.

Watching this reminded me that I have felt the need lately to be more diligent in my journal writing. When one has gotten behind in writing, it seems extremely hard to get going again. For me, I think the reason is that I feel like I should catch up on all the events and thoughts that I should have written about and didn't. This would be overwhelming. Also, I know that a lot of times when I get going in my journal, I write for long periods of time. I don't feel like I have long periods of time in which to write right now!

Taking a different approach to journal writing is what I plan to do, at this season in my life. This month I plan to write for 5 minutes daily. I plan to use the method outlined by President Eyring in that video. First, I will take a moment to think over my day as I look for ways my family has been blessed. Next, I will put pen to paper for a few short moments. And that's all there is to that.

Won't you join me? This month there is only one task. Write in your journal for 5 minutes a day.

When you have completed your Journal in 5 venture for the day, come back here and leave a comment for a chance to win a prize. To easily get back here, click the picture of the “Little Journal Writer” on the top right sidebar.

FAQ's
Why are you putting this on your blog? I thought of doing each month mostly so that I can make myself do this. By putting it on my blog, I give myself some accountability. Besides that, I thought someone else might want to join me in doing this. :)
What do I do? Aha! Good question! My idea for you is this:
**Decide to join me.
**Do it.
**Report back here and leave a comment (or email me at blog@completelee.com) letting me know “I did it!”
** Repeat the process!

What about prizes? If you follow those steps, I will willingly lavish praise upon you as well as enter you in to a drawing to win one of these items: {If you win, you choose the item you want.}

~~My “Storyoni” game (The hilarious imagination game that our family hates to quit playing.)~~My “Out of the Mouths of Babes” book (digital version only)
~~One dozen cookies or one loaf of bread (continental U.S. only)
~~$5.00 worth of digital publications (See what you might want here)
{If you have a prize you would like to donate to the cause, let me know!}

How many times can I be entered in to the drawing? For this series, you can be entered as many times as there are days in the month. My goal is to do this every day. If you really, really, really, really want to win a prize, you can also refer your friends and family members to this contest. If you can get them to leave a comment on my blog stating your name (or blog name) as the person who referred them, you will be entered in again 5 more times!
Why 5 minutes? This is an easy question. I am busy! I don’t have time for more stuff, but 5 minutes out of my day seems do-able.

Any questions? Please ask away!
Prize winner from the last 5 minute series--Laurie! Please let me know which prize you want from last time.

I did this today. Rather than pull out my journal in book form, I started typing my thoughts on a word document. I was surprised at how much I could get down on paper in such a short time. This is going to be a good project for me! :)

Woohoo! I won! :) I would LOVE your Storyoni game!!

And I swear you do just what I need each and every time. I was just thinking I need to be better at journal writing!

I did my 3rd day in a row today. This is definitely a great thing for me!

Laurie, I'll get your Storyoni to you very soon. Thanks for joining me once again! :)

Done for Wednesday and Thursday!

I already have a topic for today, but I still need to write it down.

Darn, I let that last one get away without writing it down!

But I wrote in my journal today! Done for today.

Also, if it's just you and me, don't worry about the prize thing. I'm not doing it to get a prize! :)

Thanks, Laurie. I usually have some "closet" participaters, but for right now, it is just us as far as I know. I would be doing it too, just for me. So far I have done it every single day! (I have forgotten to comment each and every time, though!)

Thanks for joining me. It does make it more fun that way.

Done for today! Thank goodness for a friend who knows how to hide the new bangs my 5 year old cut for my 3 year old. (It was a sad day!)

I just realized you're only invited to my homeschool blog. You probably think I never write anything. I write MUCH more often on my family blog. I'm going to go send the invite right now!

Well, I did finally get last night's done this morning. I remembered it as my head hit the pillow last night, but alas my PC was already shut down :( Will post again tonight!

Got today's done a little earlier than usual. Have a great evening!

Claudia! You are amazing! I did mine tonight too.

Thanks for missing me! Unfortunately, I've missed the last few days. I'm starting to feel some pre-trip stress!!!

Unknown said...

I'm done for today! I sure enjoy coming back and reading about how you are doing too. It definitely does help me stay motivated. I too am gearing up for a trip. We leave at 4am MST this Friday for a family reunion in California. I'll have my laptop with me, so I should be ok - as long as the hotels have internet service. I'll be back home Monday night. Till tomorrow :)

Laurie said...

I did it!!

CompleteLee Blogger said...

Perfect! You guys are awesome! If you get in some writing while on your trip, I'll be even more impressed!

I got mine done too.

CompleteLee Blogger said...

Oh, and have fun on your trips!

Laurie said...

Thanks!

Done for last night. I found my gratitude journal that I started a couple of years ago, so I started that up again!

CompleteLee Blogger said...

That sounds great, Laurie. Way to go. I got mine done today too. :)

Coming down the home stretch...We're almost out of month! This has been a habit I plan to keep up. Hope it has been as fruitful for you. :)

Laurie said...

It has been!! Thank you so much for this! Before, my journal was a place for me to vent about stuff that I didn't want to vent about to other people. But now, it's more about reflecting and seeing all the blessings that I have. I'm focusing more on the positive than the negative! So thanks!

Hi ladies! I'm back, and I got mine done too. We didn't have internet access after all while we were gone :( but I'm reporting mine done too. Thanks again for this challenge. I look forward to the next one.
