Mama Rika and the Meaning of Christmas

Over at Day 5 on momdot, they are asking the question, "What do you do to teach your children the true meaning of the holidays?" {Sponsors today are Baby Pop and Chic Covers}

In past years, we have participated in food drives, sang at nursing homes or hospital, and donated gifts to others.

Something we do every year to keep our family focused on the true meaning of Christmas is to read a Christmas scripture, story and song each day from December 1st until Christmas. This inspires and uplifts us on a daily basis. It is a tradition that draws our family together, makes each of us want to do a little better at showing love and giving service, and helps us keep the Christmas spirit as our daily focus during the season.

Starting December 1st, I will be sharing this tradition with all of you. I'd love to have you join our family in a daily dose of Christmas treasures.

That's so great you do a daily devotion. My parents did this with me and I want to start this it with Morgan. She's been too young in previous years, but I think she's ready now.

I've wanted to do a scripture a day. Do you have the list of scriptures that you use?

I have a homemade book from which I draw a scripture a day that was given to me by an Aunt. I'll be sharing those each day. Thanks for your comment. :)
