Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 19 from Ms. Cellaneous
Share some love. :) Say, "I Love You". Give a warm embrace. Wrap someone in a bear hug. Shower someone with sincere flattery. One stipulation--it has to be to someone that you haven't done this for recently!

Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 18 from Ms. Cellaneous
Start a Positive Notebook. Grab a small notepad and put it on your nightstand or other place where you will see it frequently. When you think of it, jot down something positive. Try to get at least 1 positive thing in each day. At the end of 30 days, you can look back and see many nice things about your life. If you are like me, you will forget several days and won't have 30 things written down.
What to write? Here are a few from mine:
- Woohoo! I had a day off from cooking dinner.
- Child 4 folded kitchen towels w/o being asked.
- Found this great quote...
- Had an awesome talk with hubby this evening...
- Discovered this way to make blogging simpler...
- Blessing made baby better.
- Found smashing good deal shopping today.
- Loved singing with whole family today.
Those are just a few simple things, but fun to look back over and realize there are lots of good things going on in my life all the time.
I'd love it if you shared a positive thing from your life when you post a comment today. It'll give me more ideas of things I can be seeing in my own life. :)

Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 15 from Ms. Cellaneous
Do that simple chore that you always forget about. For example, change the air filter, change the water filter, replace the lightbulb on the back porch, put putty in the hole behind the door, post an add on freecycle for something you want to get rid of, wipe down the dashboard of your car and bring in 10 items that shouldn’t be in the car, change batteries in the smoke detector, refill some of the water bottles in your storage, etc.

Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 14 from Ms. Cellaneous
Enjoy the sun. Yes, it is January and maybe you live in a freezing cold place like Alaska. That’s okay, you can still do this. Take your 5 minutes and point your face towards the sun’s rays. This can be down outside while breathing fresh air, or sitting by a window in the late afternoon sun. While basking in the warmth of the sun, think only thoughts of things you are grateful for. When you are done, your body, mind and spirit will feel rejuvenated.

Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 13 from Ms. Cellaneous
Think of a nice, uplifting, empowering song. Take a deep breath. Sing the whole song out loud. Sing it like you mean it. When you are done, you should have a smile on your face, your head should feel clear and you will have done your lungs a favor by the breathing patterns that come with singing.

~~Offer to proofread an essay (and then do it)

~~Call a friend to see if you can pick up something from the grocery store for them while you are there
~~Massage your spouse’s tight shoulders

~~Clean up someone else’s mess
See? Easy. What else can you think of?

Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes--Task 1 from Ms. Cellaneous
To get started off this month, the task for the day is:
Write 4 goals to accomplish in January. ...WAIT!! Before you click away from this page in disappointment due to my lack of originality, read my reasoning! Yes, it is the beginning of the New Year. Yes, everyone already thinks about writing goals at this time of year. You thought this series was going to be exciting, non-boring and full of fresh new ideas. Well, maybe there will be some of that, but you have to admit that there are some old but good ideas out there!
With all that said, let me expand on today’s project. Write 4 goals, yes, but do it in this manner.
Minute 1 should be used to clear your mind. Take a deep breath and relax. Allow your focus to shift away from all the daily matters that plague you. (Just for 5 minutes. Then you can get back to tackling all those things!) Allow your mind to be ready to receive the inspiration that will surely come!
Minute 2 will be used to begin ponderous brainstorming as you initiate the process of answering the question “What 4 new and important things do I want to accomplish this month?” You must let yourself consider any and all options. Do this with pencil in hand.
Minute 3 finds you furiously writing down the ideas that flood your mind.
Minute 4 is reserved for looking over your list and highlighting the 4 items that leap out at you, begging to be accomplished ASAP.
Minute 5 can be for rewriting these goals legibly on a 3X5 card or colorful post-it note to place in a conspicuous location. Put the “achieve by” date on the bottom of the note and cross off anything you get done. That’s it! Nice work!
Try not to take more than 5 minutes. If you take 15 or longer, you are cheating! (Not really, but by taking only approximately 5 minutes, you don’t take time to second guess your top 4 picks. You just go with your first impression, wish is usually good.)
I plan to try for goals in these areas:
Something out of my comfort zone
Something unusual for me (but not necessarily uncomfortable)
Something difficult but fulfilling
Something uplifting
Use those suggestions, or not. Do try to pick a specific thing. Don't say, "Lose weight." Rather say something like, "Eat 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day this month."
If you accomplish the task of Write Down 4 Goals to Accomplish in January, leave a comment letting me know you did it. I’ll leave a comment when I get it done too. (Not the goals themselves, just the act of writing them down.)
Ms. Cellaneous Presents the "Enhance Your Life in 5 Minutes" Series!
What made you think of doing this? I want to do some new things, some old things that need resurrecting and make some positive changes in myself this year. I want take time for little things that can be important, yet are often overlooked. I want to do something different than the regular routine.
Why are you putting this on your blog? I thought I would ask you to join me, because that will help hold me accountable for doing this for myself.
What about accountability for CompleteLee Blog readers? Aha! Good question! My idea for you is this:
**Read the idea for the day.
**Mull it over.
**Decide to do it.
**Do it. (Today, next week, whenever you plan it in)
**Report back here and leave a comment (or email me at blog@completelee.com) letting me know “I did it!” {You can tell me exactly what you did, or how much fun you had doing it if you want, or simply let me know “mission accomplished”.}
If you follow those steps, I will willingly lavish praise upon you as well as enter you in to a drawing to win one of these items: {If you win, you choose the item you want.}
~~My “He’s the One” CD (digital version or actual CD)
~~My “Childbirth: Preparing for the Miracle” book (digital version only)
~~One dozen homemade rolls or cookies (Continental U.S. only)
~~Three pieces of my “non-free” sheet music (digital copies)
Can’t you offer better prizes? Sheesh! What do you expect? A grand piano? :) Seriously, this is what I have to offer for this go around. Who knows, it may be only you and I that participate in this series. I am fine with that. I am hoping that the actual prize will be a sense of accomplishment, but I thought it would be fun to throw in a little prize for the thrill of it since it is always cool to win something. {If you have a prize you would like to donate to the cause, let me know!}
Can my name be entered more than once into the drawing? Absolutely! Every time you leave a comment letting me know you accomplished a new task/goal, you are entered in to the drawing again.
How many times can I be entered in to the drawing? There are 20 days worth of ideas for you to do, therefore there are 20 times you can comment (or email) to receive an entry into the drawing. If you really, really, really, really want to win a prize, you can also refer your friends and family members to this contest. If you can get them to leave a comment on my blog stating your name (or blog name) as the person who referred them, you will be entered in again!
What if I can’t get to the task on the day you post it? No worries! You can do it any day in January that you would like. If you get a late start, just fit in what you can!
Why 5 minutes? This is an easy question. I am busy! I don’t have time for more stuff, but 5 minutes out of my day seems do-able.
Why 20 days? I am trying to make life better, not stress-filled! Sure, it would be great if we could do something every single day for this month. However, I don’t want to feel pressured to do that. I want a little freedom. If I am too tired, too busy, too lazy…I can skip a day. I am giving myself permission to not do it all. In fact, I am going for 2/3 of the month. Doesn’t that seem easily done? It feels realistic to me. If I try to go for 100% of the days and miss some, then I will tend to focus on the fact that I missed some rather than focus on the 20%, 79% or 42% I did do. I want to focus on change. I want to focus on small increments. Anything I do will be an organized effort to do better than last January. If you feel like you want to do something each day—Great! If you feel like you want to go for 10 days—Great! Set yourself a do-able goal.
Are you ready? Stay tuned for your first task!
Any questions? Please ask away!
